Ferrari working on range of facelifted and new models

If recent rumours are to be believed Ferrari has a busy few years coming up with a whole host of new models planned.

Reports are circulating that Ferrari will present its new 458 Spider at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The 458 Spider will take the position of the discontinued 430 Spider in Ferrari’s range and will likely make use of a retractable hard-top.

Apparently a more powerful version of the 458 will appear in 2013, but in keeping with the lightweight model nameplates from the 360 Challenge Stradale to the 430 Scuderia, expect the new model to carry its own moniker. The Ferrari California is scheduled for a facelift in 2013, and the 458 Italia may also get a refresh in 2014, but considering the car just went on sale last year, that timeframe could prove incorrect. Ferrari 458 Italia officially announced

After months of rumour and speculation Ferrari has finally revealed the mid-engined V8 replacement for its F430. The all-new Ferrari 458 Italia won’t be unveiled in the flesh until September’s Frankfurt Motor Show, but the official details of the newest model were released late last night. A new direct-injected 4.5-litre V8 provides motivation pushing out 562 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. This unit won’t strike the redline till 9,000 rpm, and eighty percent of the F458’s torque will be available from a low 3,250 rpm, thanks to the motor’s 12.5:1 compression ratio.

Like the Ferrari California, the 458 benefits from a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox directing power to the rear wheels. There is no talk of incorporating a KERS hybrid power regeneration system yet, so it would seem that it was merely a rumour for now.

Like its predecessor, the Ferrari 458 Italia’s aluminum structure helps keep weight down with the 458 weighing just 1,379 kg. Speculated performance figures have acceleration to 100 km/h taking just 3.4 seconds, and this will be the first volume production Ferrari V8 to top the 200 mph barrier, with a top speed of 202 mph (325kph).

Novitec creates its own supercar – the TuLesto

Tuner Novitec is famous for its ability to produce street-friendly tuner Ferrari models with massive power and tasteful aesthetic modifications. Novitec’s latest work the Novitec TuLesto clearly has a lot of Ferrari 430 influence, but also has a lot more to offer. Built in Bavaria by the German tuner, this mid-engined supercar is something of a celebratory model, designed to mark the company’s 20th anniversary.

Just 11 examples are planned, each brandishing exactly 777 horsepower — enough to push the carbon-fibre and aluminum body to 100 kph in 3.4 seconds before topping out at more than 350 kmh. Power comes from a 4.4-litre four-valve V8 with a pair of superchargers strapped on to earn the 777 hp (at 8,200 rpm), along with a peak torque figure of 536 pound-feet at 6,300 rpm. The sole transmission choice is a six-speed semi-automatic paddleshift setup.

While probably built more as a trackday monster, there is some street cred to the TuLesto, as well. The Luca Serafini designed front-end can be lifted four inches to accommodate speed bumps and ramps preventing damage. The suspension set up is a fully tweakable double-wishbone which includes adjustable dampers and swaybars.

The available 20- or 21-inch wheels are evil-looking Novitec own rims, and they house a set of ceramic composite brakes with six-piston fixed calipers.
