It was a mostly stellar year for all the 4×4 and 4×2 pickups in the top 15 light commercial table with only two brands selling fewer vehicles in 2016 than 2015.
Nissan and Volkswagen were the two brands which sold fewer light commercials in 2016 than the previous corresponding period, 53 fewer Navara and 152 less Amarok to be exact, according to figures received today from the Motor Industry Association.

The strength of the New Zealand economy and business and consumer confidence is reflected by the record-breaking net arrivals of 306,904 new and used passenger and commercial vehicles in 2016.
This record figure compares to 290,782 net arrivals in 2015, and 273,204 net arrivals in 2014.

Caltex Australia Limited is entering into an agreement to purchase Gull New Zealand for NZ$340 million.
The transaction will see Caltex acquire Gull’s Mount Maunganui import fuel terminal and retail operating assets.
Gull New Zealand general manager David Bodger told Auto Media Group today that the deal between the Australian family-owned Gull company and Caltex Australia is subject to approval from the New Zealand Overseas Investment Office (OIO) which he reckons will take the process through to May 2017. A three-year 5.4m EUR project called ESCAPE is kicking off, enabling the European Agency for global navigation satellite systems, GSA to exploit its Galileo system for automated driving.
By 2019, the ESCAPE consortium will finish the development of a positioning engine tailored to meet the safety requirements of road transport applications involving automation which have the potential to harm or damage people and goods.
